Blog Tour: 10 Things the Bookish World Doesn't Know About Kate Evangelista + Giveaway

Good day internet fam! We've got here today on our blog Kate Evangelista, a Filipina author of the upcoming book No Love Allowed. Dea and I were so lucky that we got to meet her at Sarah J Maas signing last March, though we din't get to talk to her that much it was so nice to see her in the event and to interact with our blogger friends, it was like hitting two birds with one stone, but you know birds as the authors(heh). Anyway, so days before the signing I did joined on the blog tour for her upcoming book hosted by Xpresso Book Tours and asked about 10 things the bookish world doesn't know about her and fortunately we get to be a part of the book tour! So without further ado here are the 10 things you might want to know about Kate Evangelista and also don't forget to join in the giveaway below! Enjoy! =)

10. Six Cats
Yes, I have six cats, but there is a rational explanation for this. Sweetie came to me in January of 2015 and she changed my life forever. I wasn’t expecting to have a pet. In fact, I wasn’t even entertaining the idea of one. But I knew in my heart that something was missing in my life. Then came Sweetie. Two weeks later she got pregnant and on April 30, 2015 gave birth to five beautiful kittens. I told myself that I would only keep one and give away the rest. Ten days later, when they opened their little eyes I knew I was a goner. So I have six cats and they have made my life so much better.

9. In my heart I’m a Gilmore Girl
The Gilmore Girls was a series that changed my life. I immediately fell in love with Stars Hollow and wanted to move there when I grew up. Actually, I still want to move there. I wanted Lorelai to be my mother and I wanted to marry Logan. I have yearly marathons of all seven seasons, even if the seventh season kills me every time because of how awful it is. And, like all the GG fans, I wanted a movie. Just something that would give me closure. So imagine my eternal joy when it was announced that there would be four new episodes? I could die happy. But not before watching these eps, of course.

8. In my head I’m married to Dean Winchester
The moment I started watching Supernatural, I knew I was a fan for life. And Dean? My ideal man. Funny. Will save you from anything and everything, even the end of the world. Sexy. Stubborn. And makes eating anything look so hot. Crazy thing is? I love Dean, but I don’t like the actor who plays him in real life. How weird is that? Although, I will admit that I do cheat on Dean a lot. Specifically with Tom Hiddleston and Daryl Dixon.

7. I love pasta
Pasta is life. So when I gave up pasta for lent—that’s forty days without—I thought I would go crazy. Like I would start having dreams of bathing in tubs full of pasta or that I would sit in a restaurant that specifically serves only pasta and stare at all the people eating. I’m surprised I didn’t sleep walk and start sleep eating pasta. Or maybe I have and I just don’t know it. *gasp*

6. I love marathons
Not the sweaty kind. I guess I should say binge watching. I would horde episodes of my favorite shows and spend my whole weekend glued to the TV. This is especially true for anime. I LOVE anime. I’m an otaku through and through. Japan is the motherland. Sports anime. Romance anime. Dramas. Some horror. Love, love, love it!

5. Fashion
I don’t refer to myself as a fashionista but I do love clothes and looking at trends. Shoes are the first thing I think of buying when I have some extra cash. I don’t have a set personal style yet, but I think I’m slowly getting there. I’m more of a stick-to-classics girl who is not afraid to experiment with color. Boots are my go to shoe. Dark denim looks good on any body type. And every girl needs a good blazer. Cute dresses are also my thing. Oh and headbands. Since I have short hair they are my accessory of choice.

4. Eleven is my life number
I was born on the eleventh day of May. Year ’83. 8 + 3 = 11. My class number was eleven. My jersey number was eleven. The first letter of my name K is the eleventh letter. I have the number eleven tattooed on my left wrist. Basically, I know everything is going to be fine if I see the number eleven randomly that day. It’s kinda cool.

3. I love anything paranormal
I believe in ghosts, which is why I am a fan of Ghost Adventures. If you’re into creepy videos, subscribe to the Top5s channel on YouTube. I’ve watched each and every one of his vids. So good. Anything alien/UFO related I am down for. Documentaries, the Ancient Aliens show. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I’m also into scary movies but will cover my eyes at the scary bits.

2. Anything cute
I love anything cute, sparkly, and kitschy. Bring me to a store that sells stationary, notebooks, pens, accessories, basically anything that will make me go “Aww” and I will walk out with a bag of something. This may be my ultimate guilty pleasure because even if I don’t need another notebook I will buy one just because it’s pretty. I don’t need another headband because I only have one head but I will end up at the counter with three anyway. Bookmarks. I just discovered washi tape, so that’s another addiction I can’t stop. I think I need an intervention.

1. Audible
I read and write all day, so to give my eyes a rest I’ve switched to audio books when I “read” for pleasure. The great thing is Audible has this 30 Day trial where you get two free books. The first book I ever listened to was The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and I never looked back. The narrators at Audible are topnotch. It’s like those old radio shows. There is this one narrator who can do multiple voices. When you’re listening to the books he’s reading every character has their own unique voice. So good. Romance novels come to life in audiobook form. Trust me.

Alright, that’s 10 things the bookish community now knows about me. I do hope this little list gave you some insight into who I am. Thank you so much for hosting me here today and please grab a copy of No Love Allowed. It’s the perfect read when you’re looking for something light and swoon worthy.

One class assignment. One second chance at love. The school player is all in. Now he needs to win back the sweet commitment girl who’s forever owned his heart.

Justin Carter has a secret. He’s not the total player Fairfield Academy believes him to be. Not really. In fact, he used to be a one-woman guy…and his feelings for her never went away. Too bad he broke her heart three years ago and made sure to ruin any chance she’d ever forgive him.

Peyton Williams is a liar. She pretends to be whole, counting down the days until graduation and helping her parents at the family ranch. But the truth is, she’s done everything she can to get over Justin, and salvation is just around the corner. With graduation one short month away, she’ll soon break free from the painful memories and start her life fresh. Of course, she has to get through working with him on one last assignment first.

For Justin, nothing ever felt as right as being with Peyton, and now that fate’s given him a shot at redemption, he’s determined to make the most of it. And for Peyton…well, Justin Carter has always been her kryptonite.

“What do you think are the components of a satisfying, successful marriage?” I ask instead, setting the paper down so he won’t see how badly my hands are shaking.
I avoided the blatantly obvious question, but this one is every bit as pointless. Based on our prior history, it’s almost a given he’ll say there’s no such thing as a successful marriage. Which makes it surprising when he replies:
“Honesty. Commit—”
“Really?” I interrupt with a laugh. “You’re gonna start with honesty? You?”
Justin leans forward, the paper tablecloth crinkling as he rests his elbows on the surface. With the way he stares into my eyes, it’s like he can see straight through to my soul. Maybe Gabi had the right idea hiding behind the menu.
“Yeah,” he answers. “I am. Look, Peyton, I know you don’t believe it, but people change a lot in three years. I’m not the complete asshole you think I am.” I scoff under my breath, and he holds my gaze for another long moment before the thick knot in his throat bobs and he glances away. “At least not anymore.”
A twinge of guilt hits my stomach. Which, when you think about it, is so stupid. He cheated on me! But, luckily, before I can do something even more foolish, like apologize for my well-founded doubts, he turns back and continues.
“Honesty,” he says it again, this time emphasizing the word. He holds up a hand and starts listing components on his long fingers. “Commitment. Telling your wife she’s the most beautiful girl in the room.” He pauses there, three fingers extended, and my hand clenches beneath the table. With a grin, he adds, “Remembering what a lucky bastard you are that she ever chose you in the first place.”
That’s four, according to the tally, and my pulse picks up speed with each uptick.
“Never going to sleep angry.” Five. “Getting all your shit out there before it can build.” Six. “And kissing her every damn chance you get.” Seven.
He leans back, leaving his hands extended in the air, and I just keep staring at his fingers. I chastise myself—stupid heart, he’s not saying these things about YOU!—but the longer the fingers remain up, the longer the moment stretches, the more the air around us shifts. The cool tickle of awareness races up my spine, and as I shiver, chill bumps prick my skin.
Justin’s eyes dip to my arms. The corner of his mouth twitches and as he curls his hands closed, he shrugs. “That’s my opinion, anyway. What about you?”
My opinion? I’m discombobulated.
Before dinner = fully combobulated.
Now = completely and totally without combobs.
“Uh.” My head is void of all thought but I clear my throat, grasping to pull something out of the air. Another trait to list or quality to check that he didn’t already cover.
Since when did the player of Fairfield Academy become a frigging marriage expert?
“Those are good,” I say, stalling as I think about my parents who have, hands down, the most incredible marriage ever. They support each other, they listen, and they make room for daily bouts of silliness. Remembering a few of their more gooberific moments I add, “Laughter.” Justin looks at me. “I think it’s important to laugh with the person you’re in love with.”
He nods as a small smile plays on his lips. “I like that one. You should write it down.”
Oh, right.
We’re not just sitting here, dredging up our pain-filled past for kicks. We’re actually supposed to turn these answers in and use them to begin our joint paper. Grateful for the excuse to break eye contact, I grab my oversized purse and dig for something to write on other than the tiny margin of the question sheet or the butcher-paper tablecloth. Usually I’m much more prepared.
And much more combobulated.
