Publisher: Egmont USA
Goodreads Rating: 3.53
Goodreads Summary: In the world of Sheridan Wells, life is perfect when she’s decorating a cake. Unfortunately, everything else is a complete mess: her mom ran off years ago, her dad is more interested in his restaurant, and the idea of a boyfriend is laughable. But Sheridan is convinced finding her mom will solve all her problems—only her dad’s about to get a cooking show in New York, which means her dream of a perfect family will be dashed. Using just the right amount of romance, family drama, and cute boys, The Sweetest Thing will entice fans with its perfect mixture of girl-friendly ingredients.

Cakes. That’s what Sheridan’s life is all about. Most teenagers would be in a party after a school day but making cakes is what she does. Finding her mother was one of the things Sheridan does other than cakes. Losing your mother and waiting for her was a frustrating thing for Sheridan but knowing that your father will have his own TV series and that they has to leave the hometown was a different story.

Sheridan tries to find her mother who leaves them with some vague reasons she couldn’t figure out. With the help of her friend Jack she does not only found her mother but also the real truth behind her sudden disappearance and as well as her true self. The whole story sticks to the journey of Sheridan finding her mother. Her love story with her friend Jack was made wholly though it not started in a good one, with all the blocks they have to pass. It was a cute romance for me. Her relationship with her father was also a huge part in the story. There are some parts of the book I felt droning and just run through it but still I get to finish it. Readers will have to give this book a try for the lessons we could be taught---facing your fears, finding your true self and letting go.
