Blog Tour: Review of Second to No One by Natalie Palmer

Second Kiss by Natalie Palmer
Release Date(Paperback): 2010
Publisher: Tate Publishing
Paperback: 237 pages
Blurb:
“Even my most humiliating moments seemed funny somehow when I told them to Jess.”

Gemma Mitchell is a normal girl who somehow gets herself into abnormally embarrassing circumstances. And while she thinks she's the biggest loser in school because of them, there are a few people in her life who would disagree. One of those people is her best friend, Jess Tyler, who is opposite to her in every way.

He's popular, good looking, athletic, and intelligent, and he can't get enough of Gemma. But while Gemma is dealing with problems like wrong locker combinations and Valentine's Day dances, Jess is living in a world of serious issues that are foreign to Gemma, until she realizes that he's holding on to her for dear life.

Humorous and true to life, Second Kiss is an entertaining saga about a boy and girl who find that their lives have a lot more meaning once they have shared them with each other.

Paperback: 253 pages

“Things change. People change. Jess and I weren’t above it.”

Gemma’s first year of high school isn’t starting out the way she hoped. Jess is back from California and before she can memorize her class schedule their summer romance comes to a screeching halt. To add to her misery the gorgeous new girl in school also has eyes for Jess and despite Gemma’s unfailing attempts to win him back she keeps finding herself alone.

But when a late night car crash lands her a three month grounding and twenty hours of community service she discovers that there’s more to life than just romance and boyfriends.

Unpredictable and heart wrenching, Second to No One is the perfect continuation to the magical beginning of the Gemma and Jess romance.

Review
Second To No One is the sequel to Second Kiss by Natalie Palmer which I've read last year so I had to adjust first because I don't remember some of the things in the first book. But after a few pages I get to welcome Gemma's story again and I can say that it was a perfect sequel.

The plot is perfectly built with just a right amount of romance, a tear-jerker moment--yes there is one and I cried-- and an ending that will leave you wanting for the next book--and when I say want it means with a lot of WHAT?! and WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END?! *insert crying face* moment, which means there will be a third book and we get to see more of Jess and Gemma! Yay! I can really say that this book change what I've viewed on this series, there were no dull moments and will hooked you until the end.

There's also the characters. I like how Gemma grown into a woman, she get to stand on her own feet and fixed her relationship with her family and friends. The new characters Lauren, Tag and the old ones Drew and Trace also was a big part to make the whole story more interesting. The romance between Jess and Gemma that I'm hoping I will get after the ending in the first book didn't happen in this because of a little misunderstanding BUT this actually didn't bother me at all while reading the book. I think this just gives me more reason to wait for the third book.

To sum it up... I. LOVE. THE. BOOK. and to all the readers/bloggers out there who don't know who's Natalie Palmer or her books well what are you waiting for you lazy one, get moving and read this! ^_^

 Author Bio
I am a writer. But more importantly, I'm a mom, which is the best thing I could have ever hoped for in my life. I have three kids who amaze me every day with their little quips of humor and intelligence.  I can't really applaud myself for how great they are, though, since I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to mothering children.  But the fact that they're turning out so awesome and I'm the one that hangs out with them all day makes me feel pretty good about myself.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where I was spoiled to have the huge Wasatch Mountains in my backyard.  I graduated from the University of Utah with a major in English Literature but that's boring.  The exciting part was when I met and fell in love with the boy of my dreams. He wasn’t my first or second kiss but he was by far my favorite and it didn't take us long to figure out that life could never be as good apart as it was together. So we got married and have been living happily ever after ever since.

When I’m not attending to my homemaking and writing duties I love to exercise because it’s the only time that I have an excuse to listen to my music uninterrupted and as loud as I want.  I love all different genres of music but I run extra fast when I hear Dashboard Confessionals, Cold Play or Owl City on my iPod.  Besides music I love anything that has to do with water including but not limited to drinking it, skiing on it (in liquid or powder form), basking in the sun while boating on it and (these days) lazily dreaming while my kids play in it for hours on end.

So there you have it. I'm a wife, mother, writer and iPod blasting mermaid.  While my husband works his brains out I take care of our kids and conjure up storylines and characters and romantic turns of events.  And someday, if we're lucky, we'll be as happy as we are now.

REMY by Katy Evans + Giveaway

Remy (Real, #3)Remy by Katy Evans

Release Date(Paperback): November 26th 2013
Publisher: Gallery Books
Blog Tour Hosted by: The SUBClub Books
Blurb:
Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.

Teaser from Remy
“Pete, you think I need a sports rehab specialist?” I ask.
“No, Rem.”
“Why not?”
“You’re an asshole, dude. You hardly let the masseuses massage you for more than twenty minutes.”
“I need one now.” Pushing my iPad over to him, I tap the screen and signal to the name below her image. “I need that one.”

Pete lifts an interested eyebrow. “You do. Do you?”
“I need a sports rehab specialist on my payroll. I want her to tend to me every day. In whatever ways they do.”

He smirks. “They don’t do blow jobs, I’ll tell you that.”
“If I wanted a blow job, I could have had three just now. What I want . . .” Once again, my finger taps over her name. “Is this sports rehab specialist.”

Pete’s eyebrows fly up to his hairline, and he leans back and crosses his arms. “What exactly do you want her for?”

I chomp down the rest of my food, then take a long gulp of water so I can speak. “I want her for me.”
“Rem . . .” he says in warning.

“Offer her a salary she can’t decline.”

Pete answers me with a puzzled silence. He seems taken aback and is trying to make sense of me. He’s looking into my eyes, and I can tell he’s observing whether they are black or blue.

I’m not black. So I wait quietly. He sighs, slowly jots down her name, and speaks cautiously. “All right, Remington, but let me say, this has Bad Idea written all over it.”

Shoving my plate aside, I lean back and cross my arms.

My head betrays me half the time. One day, it tells me I am god. The other, it tells me that I not only rule hell, but I invented it. Does Pete think I give one fuck about what his own head thinks about my idea? I don’t listen to my head anymore. I listen only to my gut.

“I want her watching me fight Saturday,” I remind him as I get up and shove my chair back under the table. And I want her watching from the bet seats in the house.”

“Remington . . .”

“Just do it, Pete,” I say as I cross the living room back to the master.
“I already have the tickets ready to go, dude, but it’s hard enough keeping Diane from knowing of your . . . er, issues . . . It’s going to be even harder to keep it from someone like this sports rehab specialist.”

I prop my shoulder at the threshold of my bedroom and think about that. I lower my voice. “Make her sign a contract, so I have guaranteed time with her. And stabilize me the instant I start losing my shit.”
“Remington, just let me get some other girls—”

“No, Pete. No other girls.”

I shut myself in my room and grab my headphones, then just lie there with my iPod in my hand, staring at it.

What will it be like if I make her mine?

I don’t delude myself into thinking that she will accept me, but what if she does? What if she can understand me? The way I am? The two parts of me? No. Not two parts. Every. Single. Fucking. Part. Of me.

My gut tightens as I remember the way her eyes shone when she looked at me. The way they softened after I kissed her and she looked into my eyes, wanting more of me.

I have never seen a look quite like that before. I have been wanted by thousands of women. Nobody has ever looked at me with such open, frightened longing as her.

She was not frightened of me. She was frightened of “it.” This same thing clenching my gut that has me all tangled up. Every cell in my body is buzzing with awareness. Every inch of my skin is awake. My muscles feel primed like they do when I’m ready to fight. Except I’m not ready to fight now. I’m ready to go get my mate.

God help her.

Rock and a Hard Place Blog Tour: Interview with Angie Stanton + Giveaway!

A: The biggest challenges were research. I don’t want to giveaway too much, so I’ll just say I talked to police officers and social workers.

A: I love the scene at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. It’s a point in the story where everything is building to this one moment. So much is at stake and it’s an impossible situation. I recently read the book again and I found myself on the edge of my seat, excited and teary as I read that scene.

A: Jennifer Lawrence. She seems like she’d be so much fun. She’s smart and funny and down to earth. Maybe Rock and a Hard Place could be made into a movie and she could star in it! Yeah, I’d be good with that!

A: In Love ‘em or Leave ‘em, I’d say the lead character, Ashley, is most like me. She’s out of her element and is always doing something embarrassing. That pretty much sums me up, too.

A: Other than my own books, I recommend Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I love that book! Also, On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves. It’s a stranded-on-a-deserted-island story, plus so much more.

A: Royally Lost is so much fun. It’s about a girl on trip to Europe with her family who meets a runaway prince. There is a lot of adventure and humor, and what girl wouldn’t want to fall in love with a prince!

Thank you so much for visiting Teen Readers' Diary Angie! Rock and a Hard Place was such an adorable read and I can't wait to have Royally Lost in my hands. A book about a girl on a European trip? Count me in!
