Top 10 of 2012: Books I'm Looking Forward To in 2013

What is Top 10 of 2012? It’s a fun-filled week where we look back at some of the best of “all things books” of 2012 and what books we’re looking forward to in 2013.

This is an event hosted by Two Chick on BooksFiktshunConfessions of a BookaholicA Life Bound by Books and Magical Urban Fantasy. It's the last day of this year's Top Ten Week! Once again, I had a great time making lists of my favorite books, book boyfriends etc. and visiting some of the other blogs. This event has been a fun way to discover new books to add on my tbr and awesome blogs to follow. Thank you so much to everyone who took time to comment on my posts!

Today is about books that I'm looking forward to in 2013. Most of the titles on my list are sequels, but there are two which will be first books to new series. I know I was supposed to include only ten books, but I can't find it in me to exclude either one of them.

Here's my top eleven in no particular order.

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)
Release Date: March 19th 2013
Goodreads summaryDanger intensifies for the Shadowhunters as the New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy comes to a close.

If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy.
Out of Breath (The Breathing Series, #3)
Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)
Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi

Release Date: February 5th 2013
Goodreads summarytick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost

time for war.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)

Release Date: February 5th 2013
Goodreads summaryCinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.

As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.
The Archived (The Archived, #1)
The Archived (The Archived #1) by Victoria Schwab

Release Date: January 22nd 2013
Goodreads summaryImagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.
Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

Release Date: January 8th 2013
Goodreads summaryIt's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.
If I Should Die (Revenants, #3)

Release Date: May 7th 2013
Goodreads summary: I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?
Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)

Release Date: June 4th 2013
Goodreads summary: Darkness never dies.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling's game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Just One Day (Just One Day, #1)

Release Date: January 8th 2013
Goodreads summary: A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay

When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Just One Day is the first in a sweepingly romantic duet of novels. Willem’s story—Just One Year—is coming soon!

Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)
Galen Forza (Of Poseidon by Anna Banks)who wouldn't melt under his violet gaze? Galen is hot without trying (although he is TRYING to fit in with the humans) and I found myself swooning even more as I read his perspective. He is the sexiest merman on land and in water. - Dea

Top 10 of 2012: Best New Adult/Adult Books

What is Top 10 of 2012? It’s a fun-filled week where we look back at some of the best of “all things books” of 2012 and what books we’re looking forward to in 2013.

This is an event hosted by Two Chick on BooksFiktshunConfessions of a BookaholicA Life Bound by Books and Magical Urban Fantasy. Today's topic is a reader's choice. That means we can choose any topics from these categories - Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POV's, Novella, Adult Titles, New Adult Titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts. Since I noticed that half of the 157 books I've read this year are a combination of Adult and New Adult tiles, I decided to list my favorite books from both categories. In a way, this is like the part 2 of my best titles I've read list.

Here's my top ten New Adult/Adult books in no particular order.

On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1)
This is my first read by Samantha Young and I've been a huge fan ever since. I loved everything about it - the writing, setting and the toe-curling romance.
Daughter of the Forest (The Sevenwaters Trilogy, #1)
Daughter of the Forest is a retelling of German fairy tale The Six Swans in a medieval Celtic environment. This book is so wonderfully written. It's 400 pages long and tears were shed more than a few times. I can't believe it took me until this year to pick it up.
Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1)
Seduction and Snack series is filled with humor and romance! These are hands down the most hilarious books I've ever read. Do not read this book in public unless you want people to think you're a nutcase.
I've Got Your Number
I absolutely adored this clean romance read. This is a perfect book for relaxation after a long day at school. I found myself laughing and swooning, although it doesn't completely revolve around romance. I can't commend Sophie Kinsella enough for the clever use of footnotes!
Slumber (The Fade, #1)
Have I mentioned I'm a huge fan of Samantha Young? Yep. HUGE. Every single one of her books that I read are amazing. Slumber is loosely based on Sleeping Beauty and this time, it's about her best friend. It's my favorite among Samantha's books (a little of it has something to do with Wolfe). Fans of paranormal romance and New Adult will love this.
Easy
This is the first New Adult book I loved. It deals with heavy issues and problems that made the book a must read for older teens.
A Girl Like You
This just became my favorite chick-lit book ever! tied with The Sweet Gum Street and Sophie's book of course. I knew when I read the summary (do it too!) that I would love it. And I was so right.
While It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #3)
This has everything you'd want in an AG book. Steamy and sweet and oh so hot. Best Abbi Glines book in my opinion.
Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10)
I can't believe I went this far in a series. Wait, actually I can. This is the Black Dagger Brotherhood for godsake. I'm so happy that Tohr finally got his HEA and I'm so stoked for Lover At Last!!
The Sweet Gum Tree
The Sweet Gum Tree is about true love and second chances. I think I fell inlove alongside the protagonists - from their childhood which developed into teen romance and then into so much more. It's long but every minute spent reading this was so worth it.
