Blog Tour: Review of I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell+Giveaway

After reading the blurb of I Remember You I knew that I had to read this book, a guy predicting the future? Sign me up! The plot feels like a breath of fresh air to me, especially with other books which has the same story and all. I read this book after receiving a copy and was halfway through that I didn’t notice but then I had to stop because life (college) happens and interfere with my reading. Getting back with this book is very easy that I finished it in just a few hours and that’s what I’m looking for a story, something really catches my attention. I Remember You tackles a different kind of love story with a dash of time travel. I like how the written style of the book is like a diary that I get to know the whole story by Juliet’s mind. Each moment were delivered with enough detail that I felt every second of it.

Lucas and Juliet both carry a strong character in the story. They were both believable in each moment they were presented. At first I was hesitant to like Juliet because of her attitude towards Rosemary that she became secretive and change just because of her feelings for Lucas, but as the story goes I understand where this decision is coming from. I see the changes in her throughout the story; she became wiser in her decisions and stand up for herself. Lucas is the kind of character that you can’t just not like, despite of his oddity with knowing the future.  He has this pull that will make you love him may it be his good-looking personality or the charm he has towards Juliet and the other characters, I don’t know I just adore him. The relationship that built between this two all started because of the premonition of Lucas but even though with this kind of insta-love development I love how both of these characters matured in this relationship, they face problems with Lucas’ ability to know what’s going to happen between them and fought through the hardship.

The only problem I had with this book is the question that keeps me reading ‘til the end. Why Lucas? How can he tell what would happen to him and Juliet? And still I didn’t get the answer I wanted that brought me to rate this 3.5 instead of 4 quills. But if you’re someone who’s not very particular about each aspect of a book then you will definitely like this book and overlook this issue.

About the Author 

I was born in Princeton, NJ in 1971 and lived there until I was twelve, when we moved with my mom moved to West Hartford, CT.

My dad and mom had been divorced when I was two, and my dad lived in Williamstown, MA. I spent summers and school vacations with him.

I went to college in New York, at Barnard, and stayed in New York after I graduated. I worked as a newspaper reporter for three months, as a salesperson for a multimedia publisher for three years, and as a market researcher, and finally a copywriter.

I’m married and have two awesome kids ages two and five. I lived in Manhattan for sixteen years, but now am in Brooklyn, living downstairs from my sister and her family. I have two dogs named Oscar and Oprah. My favorite food is pizza and, strangely, in my thirties, I’ve developed a great love for playing catch. Slipping is my first book.
