Review

Nothing's wrong when your best friend sends you an email, but what if she's dead? yep, it turns into a totally different story. That's what happens to Kate Lowry whose bestfriend, Grace, died a year ago. Everything now is a whole muddled situation. Kate has no choice but to prove that Grace's death was more than just a tragic accident. She teams up with Liam, a dangerously hot boy and Seth, her lovestruck geeky neighbor. But as if all of that is not enough, their elite private school also holds secrets, secrets so big some people will do anything to protect them, even if it means getting rid of anyone trying to solve the murder.

I remember that this is the first book I grab which was sent from Liz of Consumed by Books when I won in her giveaway. You see, I really love those contemporary books that deals with mysteries and where they would investigate something (SHERLOCK!) and from that it just pulls me in. But somehow I don't think I've found what I'm looking for in this book, well there's the saying 'don't expect too much' which I clearly forgot *smack myself*. Despite of these things, I liked Kate Lowry's character a lot, and I liked that there's another somewhat kick-ass character out there. I know that there are times she just wants to free herself from all the problems but she's also stubborn which drives her to continue her escapade. Then there are two boy who are obviously opposites of each other. Seth is the kind of guy you'll want to have as a crime-in partner before the 'crime' while Liam, well he's the guy you'd want as a crime-in partner while actually doing the 'crime', which you see is crystal clear different. Seth is smart in a nerdy way and then there's Liam who is also smart, but in a hot way (if there's one *wink*). But both of them cares for Kate which I think adds up on the things that brings me to finish this book.

Though I cannot say much about Kate and Liam's romance because it's just building up, I must say that the Roecker sisters did a good job on that one. They've put up a foundation on Kate and Liam's relationship which in other books lack in. Those spur-of-the-moment romance/love? Pleaase... we are so over that. That's why I think reading the second book would be more fun. I admit that even if I'm pretty lost with the first few chapters in the book, the characters and their easy-to-follow persona is what made me like this book. So yeah looking for an easy read, filled with mystery and badassery? Then Liar Society must be on your to-be-read list.
